About Us
Borrowby Nursery School is situated in the grounds of Knayton C of E School, just 2 miles north of Thirsk and 4 miles from Northallerton. Working together, Nursery School, Playgroup and After School Club provide full day care for children from 2-11yrs old. We cater for up to 24 children each day and receive Government funding for 3 and 4 yea r olds. We also accept childcare vouchers such as Busy Bees and others.
The owner and manager is Linda Chapman, a former childminder with over 10 years experience working within the Early Years setting. Linda is a qualified Early Years Professional which is the highest possible status that can be achieved. All of the staff are highly qualified and their ongoing professional development is one of our many strengths. Every child is assigned a key worker who undertakes detailed assessments of each child’s progress. This gives us a very clear picture of how each individual child is doing and enables us to give concise feedback to parents and carers. In addition a daily diary is provided for every child which provides information about the child’s day at nursery school.
We strongly believe that children should develop at a pace that suits them and we provide an environment that facilitates learning through investigation, exploration, conversation and imagination. Our children learn to care for each other and the natural world through a curriculum that is based on children’s play and is delivered in a flexible mix of child led and adult led activities. Outdoor learning plays a key role in our curriculum as we encourage children to gain awareness and respect for their environment.
Borrowby Nursery School provides a happy and purposeful environment for children to enjoy imaginative play, creative learning and have plenty of fun.
